Book Review - the Giver by Lois Lowry

I spent it reading. Now that might not be a anything strange but you see it was a book that my son was reading and has to do an oral report on tomorrow. He was having trouble with figuring out what was going on. So he asked me if I would read it and help him. Now that book was one of mine that I he borrowed and it is also a book that he will be reading in Grade 10. A friend of mines daughter had to read it and she passed it on to me. Anyway so the book was 179 pages long and I had said some time ago that I could read that in a couple hours or so if I had the time. So that is what I did this afternoon.

I guess I should tell you what the book is. It is called the Giver by Lois Lowry.

Synopsis from the back of the book taken from goodreads. Jonas's world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear or pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the Community. When Jonas turns twelve, he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

So after supper I helped him write up his oral report, god it has been awhile since I done one of those, lol. Didn't like it any better now then I did then. But it is now done and I thought I would share.

Now as for the book it is a good one, different then what I usually read but worth the read all the same. It could be considered a suspense type of book, it keeps you reading and wanting to know what is to come. Great story and character development. Told from the point of view of a 12 year old boy by the name of Jonas's.

I would give it 3 out of 5 stars, meaning I liked it.
