Upon first seeing it 3 almost 4 years ago I was like wow, what does any of that have to do with the show, and in all honestly it was pretty disturbing. But over time I could see how it would apply to the show. But upon reading an article/essay found in the book "A taste of True Blood" I can now fully appreciate how the opening credit really does apply to the show. The creators of the opening credits are pure geniuses in my books.
Now I can't really get into all that the essay talks about but it is really worth a read and for me a second read. You see as I was reading I was like I don't remember seeing that part or that part. So today I had myself a little marathon of True Blood. Each time looking very carefully at the opening credits. Now these parts that were mentioned in the book that I couldn't remember I could see why because they were you blink and you missed it and I am sure others are still beyond me seeing. He took the time to sit and slow down the credits. To explain everything that is going on even the stuff that you might of missed and let me tell you, there are lots of things missed unless you know they are there. The article goes into the main themes life, death, religion, bigotry which is pretty plain to see.
Now I am not one for reading such analytical things because I watch or read a book for entertainment. I find those who love to pull apart things and find there hidden meaning or the what not, a bit hard to stomach most times. It usually takes the fun out of watching or reading for me. Especially those who do it to bash the show or book. To make what you like dirty or something. Not really explaining myself right, I am not good at expressing myself in words that is why I tend to stay away for writing things like this.
Any way I really don't know where I am going with this it sounded better in my head. lol But I was compled to try and share my thoughts on this. Don't know if I really did a good job. But I am sure True Blood fans will have some idea of what I am talking about at least I hope so.
In the end I guess this turned out to be a bit of a review on the book. I have yet to read any more but I think I would recommended this to another fan of the show.
Thanks for reading this rant of mine.
